Established in 2004, Òran Mór ('Great Song' or 'Melody' in Scots Gaelic) has introduced a wide range of entertainment and performing arts to the West End's vibrant social scene. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century church, this multi-arts venue offers a varied programme from Club & DJ Nights, to weddings and Burns Suppers to, most importantly, theatre and visual arts.
Òran Mór has pioneered a new concept for theatre-goers with its excellent lunch time theatre programme, known as 'A Play, a Pie and a Pint' which is entering its third season. Stars performing in the main auditorium at these sessions include such award-winning actors as Dave Anderson and Robbie Coltrane. The venue also contributes hugely to the West End Festival staged each year in June.
The exquisite auditorium is a superb venue for private functions, accommodating up to 450 people theatre-style or 250 for formal occasions. Clubbers are also well served at the Venue Nightclub, an integral part of this multi-arts complex. Fully licenced, it provides a mix of music from DJ's to live bands. State-of-the-art technologies and sound systems provide The Venue with superb acoustics.
Òran Mór equally provides a relaxed environment for socialising and dining out in one of Glasgow's trendiest quarters. A less formal dining experience can be enjoyed in the Conservatory, purveying a tantalising selection of fine Scottish cuisine. The Brasserie on the other hand is more formal with an exclusive and varied menu. Pre-theatre menus are also available at the Brasserie.
